Raise the roof

Its time for another blast of photos!!! Our trusses are here!!!!!! I have a few days of photos here
This stack is actually taller than me...

Told you! (we were going to the gym afterwards so please dont mind my outfit)

I wont bore you with all the artsy fartsy truss photos I have, but this was one of my favs out of the bunch! I loved the smell of them and we were both super excited to see them on the property when we pulled up!!

Hello front entrance! Once the cement hardens more they will remove the styrofoam forms and our glorious arches will be revealed!

Already we have a draining problem in our shower! Ha little construction humor! But yes you are looking at our shower and the pipes for our double shower heads! Hooray!!

These photos are from this past wednesday and this my friends is our first interior wall!

By friday we had all of our trusses set for the guest rooms, bathrooms, and garage!

They even started laying the plywood on them!

So much more to do! Caught The Hubs standing here for a bit just staring up at it. We really are so proud of how far we have gotten with our dream home :)

Found this huge bolt in the garage and then located where it went... Yes, this giant beast is what is anchoring our one wall to our exterior wall. Built tough. Hurricane parties will be held at our house fo sho!

Had to get a shot of us with our trusses!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way that the colors turned out in this photo. We were expecting rain so we headed out to the house real quick. We got a call from Todd and he asked us if we went out to the house (this is saturday) and we told him nah we went the day before and didnt expect a change on a saturday... well surprise surprise! He had the crane come out early saturday morning and set all of the trusses we had left!!!

ALL OF THE TRUSSES ARE SET AT CASA DE MEGA HOME! (you can see just how tall everything suddenly is when I am standing next to it! I'm 5'3 B-T-Dubs.

I then attempted to take a photo with the timer... if you want to see funny you need to see me run, in a long skirt, in flip flops, in the dirt. Yes. I almost fell and I only had 10 seconds to get to this spot.

WOO!!!!

WOO AGAIN!!

Just a nice shot looking out at our patio from the master bedroom!

And of couse the shot from the back yard.

We decided that a little rain wasnt going to ruin the beauty of our home so we headed out to a tiki bar to grab a refreshment and watch the sunset.

It was just as beautiful as our home.

Built around the kitchen

Hello my friends! We have spent countless hours thinking about my dream kitchen... Yes, I said we. This kitchen is going to be the death of us :) after getting a quote that was way far out of our budget we headed to Lowes.

Yep its a screen shot and yes... its crooked. Thank you Husband's scanner.
Oh boy so this has been a task and a half, after 3 hours of our first appointment we didnt finish the kitchen. We still had 2 other bathrooms to go and a huge island. Second appointment the girl we were working with ran late from lunch (30 Min late. Not cool bro.) So we started working with another girl there who decided to tell us that a different brand would have more options {rolling my eyes} well she then decided to delete everything we work on and start over. 3 hours later we still didnt finish the kitchen. On our third visit we found out that our kitchen cabinets alone where going to cost $25,000. Yep. Yep. I almost stood up and walked out. Let me rewind a little bit.... this other girl that we worked with told us that they were the same price as the ones we originally picked out! Liar. Silly little girl made me want to noodle bop her!!!

Back to our original design...

Not sure how I feel about the glass... suggestions help!

Hurricane Season.

I feel like so much has happened in the last few days. So many emotions! It really makes you take a step back and think about things. When The Hubs called me to have me turn on the news I was still basking in the glory of having walls being put up before our eyes in our new home, then it hit me. Fear. Not for myself but for my future children. When you build something as important as a home you do it for your family, to protect them, to give them shelter, and to give them hopes & dreams. Seeing a senseless act such as the bombings makes me angry that no matter how thick I build the walls where they will sleep I cannot protect them from the world. I say all this with a huge lump in my throat.
I had to get that out.  Better readings below.

We went Tuesday to meet with our counter top installer and get some ideas for stone. While I have still yet to hear one sort of price (feels like its a secret) we did get some great ideas and limited things down!

This is granite, this is also not the correct coloring. Damn these boxes! Somewhere in garage or other spare bedrooms is my charger to my camera, so you will have to live with iphone photos. (I have dropped my phone so many times it makes its own decisions now)
The Hubs was really liking this. It was closer to the white but the spotting still reminded me of granite that you see in most homes right now. I am not a fan of it. I think spots just make me think dirty. He was very dalmatian-esk. (I'm making a scrunchy face. I do not like it.)

This is Bianca Goioa <--(not to sure on how to say that so Goy-Ya it is!)
This is some of the most beautiful marble I have ever seen. The waves and veins of the grey have something so soft and organic to them that makes me weak in the knees! Marble is also the last stone on Earth I should ever own. I am the clumsiest girl in the world. I didnt believe this statement till I met my husband, then for some reason I have dropped countless amounts of knives extremely close to my toes. That being said Marble doesnt like to have things dropped on it. It also doesnt like to have lemons, vinegar, water, soap, berries, and well everything else you would have in your kitchen. Shucks. This is not for me. :( Huge sad face. So its now time to hunt for a location that carries Silestone. They have a slab called "Lyra" that is super close to marble. There is also a Quartzite called "super white" that I am in love with. I think we will be taking a trip to Tampa or Orlando to find them!

I posted on my Faceybooky that I am allergic to counter tops. I wasnt trying to be funny, I actually am allergic! Somewhere in our 3 stone yards I touched something (I touched everything) and then I had a reaction. Crap. My lip swelled up, I got itchy and broke out into hives... and then I kid you not I got a really back case of the Hiccups!!!

Welcome to the walls!

First photo here is The Hubs in our bedroom window. I cant wait to sit in a lovely chair and read by the sunlight coming into this huge window! We didnt quite have all of our walls at this point (tuesday).

Im standing just inside the house from the garage I think The Hubs is telling me something but clearly I am just bouncing around the house taking photos.

This was today. We passed our inspections and we filled the block walls with cement! Hello Hurricane season! We are on track to have a roof, doors, walls, and windows by the time this season hits! Thankfully building codes and great contractors have hurricanes in mind this house is going to be a beast!!  I would also like to mention that Todd told us today that he had to go out and buy all new ladders. Taller ladders. Haha this house just keeps getting taller and taller! :)
This is the front door from inside the house on tuesday.

This was the front door today. Its pretty cool that the archways are already here and defined! I will have that picture tomorrow when they open up the wood and begin on the trusses.

They finally walled in our Storage (zombie) room!!!

I will be bringing you some more photos tomorrow because I finally made a batch of cupcakes for the workers!!!

Photo Day!

Hello all and welcome to photo day! (Fun Fact: Click on the photos to make them bigger!) I finally lugged out my little baby we like to call "the professional"  and took it out to the house! (I dont think I've ever actually called it that) We headed out there this past sunday because they had poured the foundation when I last wrote. Waking up that morning we honestly had no idea how much this changes our view on things. By the end of the trip there we had a renewed and refreshed feeling! We hit up Lowes and got all my supplies I needed to transplant my garden into my lovely garden box!

Side note about this garden box: When we first moved in together I said I would love to have a garden again. Showed him a picture of a big box and said "this is what I want!" Lucky me I had a long day at work one sunday and he got with our roommate Jake (who is Todds son) and they worked it out and built me this box! When I came home exhausted I saw a clean house and smelled fresh saw dust... he took me out to the garage and showed me this big I mean HUGE garden box that could probably hold 3 grown men. I am a lucky girl I tell you!!!
So anyways... we finally added wheels (after moving it 2 times already. I swear its 900lbs) and 10 bags of dirt later I was able to transplant my cucumbers!

Sunday we met with Todd out here at the lot. Where they are standing is in my pantry near the garage. I am at the back corner of the house where our main window is in the master bedroom.

Here the boys are talking about the front door. The Hubs measured it to make sure our giant door is still going to fit... it will :) I am now standing on the front of the house where our bathroom is.

This is where the island in the kitchen is going to be. Keep in mind we have tooonnnnsss of wide open space. I'm standing in the living room.

So this is the back yard. Yea. I know. Its going to need a lot of work. BUT ITS HUGE!!!

Well this is mostly supposed to be about our little red friend but here you can see where the tree guys tore up the fence from the neighbors... yuck.

Today we come out here to the house and found block! Yay!!! I would be standing in the bedroom or maybe right outside of it. The two notches in the middle are the windows in the spare bedrooms. The far ones are the windows in the bathrooms. The garage is on the left side and the back of the house is to your right.

This view is from the road leading up to the house. That my friends to your left is the start of a great 2 car garage!!!

I thought these guys looked pretty cool! They go over top of all the window and door openings in the house.

This is now the back of the house with our walls going up! Yay!!!

Well this is awkward.... ha I kid I made The hubs take this (he so hates taking photos) This is my big window I asked for!! I wanting something huge and lovely to look out on the backyard from our dining room table and the kitchen. It has a little corner and then another window to the right... then another small piece of wall and then a 3-paned sliding glass door.

This is the zombie room. Hahah its actually made for "pool" storage if we decide on one. If not then it will be for easy access to things we might need in the back yard. Its the one part of the house that will be completely blocked closed. If we lived in Kansas it would be our Tornado room.

This is where they forgot to add the other wall to the zombie room! Oops!

Pardon my nerd glasses!

This is the future location of my soaking tub. I am soo so so excited! I think when we move in I wont take a shower I am going to take a long hot bath!!!

Then something strange happened. We were walking back to the house from the yard and we looked up and saw....

Thermin.

Thermin started following us everywhere in the house! He was pretty great even for a cat :)

Todd was driving by and saw us and he pulled in! Ha! So 7 ish tonight we had a little meeting with him... shortly after the block guy, Otto stopped in too! This really is a local job site for a lot of our guys!
He said they will be close to finishing the blocking out of the house by monday or tuesday! He was a really nice guy and told us that he really liked the house. He also said that some lady came up to him when he first started and asked "whats with all these Mega-Homes?!" haha! silly lady its not that big!

Hey Thermin! I swear this guy was everywhere! He is our night security :)
I should be taking my big camera out there from here on out so no more iphone photos!
