I feel like so much has happened in the last few days. So many emotions! It really makes you take a step back and think about things. When The Hubs called me to have me turn on the news I was still basking in the glory of having walls being put up before our eyes in our new home, then it hit me. Fear. Not for myself but for my future children. When you build something as important as a home you do it for your family, to protect them, to give them shelter, and to give them hopes & dreams. Seeing a senseless act such as the bombings makes me angry that no matter how thick I build the walls where they will sleep I cannot protect them from the world. I say all this with a huge lump in my throat.
I had to get that out. Better readings below.
We went Tuesday to meet with our counter top installer and get some ideas for stone. While I have still yet to hear one sort of price (feels like its a secret) we did get some great ideas and limited things down!
This is granite, this is also not the correct coloring. Damn these boxes! Somewhere in garage or other spare bedrooms is my charger to my camera, so you will have to live with iphone photos. (I have dropped my phone so many times it makes its own decisions now)
The Hubs was really liking this. It was closer to the white but the spotting still reminded me of granite that you see in most homes right now. I am not a fan of it. I think spots just make me think dirty. He was very dalmatian-esk. (I'm making a scrunchy face. I do not like it.)
This is Bianca Goioa <--(not to sure on how to say that so Goy-Ya it is!)
This is some of the most beautiful marble I have ever seen. The waves and veins of the grey have something so soft and organic to them that makes me weak in the knees! Marble is also the last stone on Earth I should ever own. I am the clumsiest girl in the world. I didnt believe this statement till I met my husband, then for some reason I have dropped countless amounts of knives extremely close to my toes. That being said Marble doesnt like to have things dropped on it. It also doesnt like to have lemons, vinegar, water, soap, berries, and well everything else you would have in your kitchen. Shucks. This is not for me. :( Huge sad face. So its now time to hunt for a location that carries Silestone. They have a slab called "Lyra" that is super close to marble. There is also a Quartzite called "super white" that I am in love with. I think we will be taking a trip to Tampa or Orlando to find them!
I posted on my Faceybooky that I am allergic to counter tops. I wasnt trying to be funny, I actually am allergic! Somewhere in our 3 stone yards I touched something (I touched everything) and then I had a reaction. Crap. My lip swelled up, I got itchy and broke out into hives... and then I kid you not I got a really back case of the Hiccups!!!
Welcome to the walls!
First photo here is The Hubs in our bedroom window. I cant wait to sit in a lovely chair and read by the sunlight coming into this huge window! We didnt quite have all of our walls at this point (tuesday).
Im standing just inside the house from the garage I think The Hubs is telling me something but clearly I am just bouncing around the house taking photos.
This was today. We passed our inspections and we filled the block walls with cement! Hello Hurricane season! We are on track to have a roof, doors, walls, and windows by the time this season hits! Thankfully building codes and great contractors have hurricanes in mind this house is going to be a beast!! I would also like to mention that Todd told us today that he had to go out and buy all new ladders. Taller ladders. Haha this house just keeps getting taller and taller! :)
This is the front door from inside the house on tuesday.
This was the front door today. Its pretty cool that the archways are already here and defined! I will have that picture tomorrow when they open up the wood and begin on the trusses.
They finally walled in our Storage (zombie) room!!!
I will be bringing you some more photos tomorrow because I finally made a batch of cupcakes for the workers!!!
